To be fair, we should credit Obama for making decisions that aren’t too bad, such as his possible appointments of James Jones for National Security Adviser and Tim Geithner as Treasury Secretary.
We cannot ignore, however, the arrogance of nominating Penny Pritzker as his Commerce Secretary. Pritzker has since turned down the offer, and this was a non-story with the media. I bring it up because Pritzker has an awful track record with Superior Bank, which closed in 2001 thanks to her strong push for subprime loans.
Pritzker served as Obama’s campaign finance chairwoman during the campaign, and Obama was apparently loyal enough to nominate her, despite knowing that her appointment would be a slap in the face to Americans. Don’t forget how ironic it is that the politicians who caused and benefited from the crisis are being rewarded, and they’re working the country into a panic so they can expand the same failed programs.
Obama is reportedly choosing Bill Richardson next week for the position.
