While John McCain prepared for tonight’s debate, Sarah Palin continued to play offense against Obama. After McCain and Palin came after Obama yesterday for blocking Fannie and Freddie reform, and for being dishonest about his associations with Bill Ayers, the allegations continued today.
Meanwhile, some members of the MSM are beginning to recognize that Obama hasn’t been perfectly honest in this campaign. Jake Tapper of ABC noted that McCain’s new ad calling Obama a liar is accurate. CNN’s Anderson Cooper analyzed the Obama-Ayers relationship, and reporter Drew Griffin rejects Obama’s claims of having a minimal relationship with Ayers. That’s right: CNN reported this. I suspect that others in the MSM will be forced to discuss the issue if McCain makes it a principle point of discussion tonight.
Andy McCarthy suggests that Obama has more to hide, particularly about his years at Columbia, including his association with Rashid Khalidi, former director of the PLO’s news agency WAFA. McCarthy also questions how Obama couldn’t share similar views with Ayers when he endorsed Ayers’ book on the criminal justice system:
And then Axelrod gave us still more lies: “There’s no evidence that Obama in any way subscribed to any of Ayers’ views.”
Oh yeah? Well, Mr. Axelrod, how do you explain Obama’s breathless endorsement of Ayers’s 1997 Leftist polemic on the criminal-justice system, A Kind and Just Parent? As Stanley Kurtz has recounted, Ayers’s book is a radical indictment of American society: We, not the criminals, are responsible for the violent crime that plagues our cities; even the most vicious juvenile offenders should not be tried as adults; prisons should eventually be replaced by home detention; American justice is comparable to South Africa under Apartheid. Obama’s reaction? He described the book as “a searing and timely account” — a take even the Times concedes was a “rave review.”
Stanley Kurtz continues his investigation, adding a description of how ACORN directly contributed to the current mortgage fallout, with Obama abetting them for years.
There are many questions that Obama has yet to answer, and people are wondering if Obama has something to hide. Perhaps McCain, and even the media, can help provide answers.
